What I learnt in 2017

Processed with VSCO with a5 presetWe are well into January now but I wanted to write this post and reflect on the things I learnt in 2017. I feel like I learn’t a lot in 2017 not only in my personal life, but in my professional life as I moved from my second year to third year at university and decided to start my own blog, which was something I wanted to do for a very long time.

As a uni student it is inevitable that you will have to do a lot of work at home outside of uni hours, something which I was under no illusions about. However, I am a person who wants to be the absolute best at everything and get the best results I possibly can, which often means I work and work and work and keep on working until I am 100% happy with the outcome. As my projects are often quite big this results in me working all hours of the day pretty much all week, to not only make sure that I get all the work done in time but that it’s the best work I can produce.

At the busiest points of uni throughout the year I can often be found working away quietly, endlessly without even talking to anyone (unless it’s a group project). I am so wrapped up in what I am doing that I forget to actually have a life. So in 2018 I am vowing to not stop working hard because that’s me and I always want to achieve where I can, but to ensure I make time to have a life, relax, go out and spend time with my loved ones. Plus, if this is written on my blog I know my boyfriend will hold me to it! Although he is very understanding, I can only imagine how annoying it is for him when I am so busy that I rarely see him!

It was a big step for me as I thought people might think it’s a silly idea etc etc, but I am loving it so much. I have really enjoyed writing and uploading posts and taking lots of lovely photos to go with them that I could then put on social media. The one thing I did learn about my blog is to not put too much pressure on myself. I set myself the challenge of uploading two blog posts a week which on the whole I am managing. However on reflecting I realised that it’s okay to be late or miss a blog post if it’s going to make your content better. I was so obsessed with wanting to get a blog post up sometimes I wasn’t 100% happy.

So going into 2018 i’ve realised it is much more about quality than quantity!

There you have it, my main two reflections from 2017. One about university and one about my blog. I really enjoyed writing this post and reflecting on the year just gone, so I hope you enjoy reading it.

Thank you for reading and if you haven’t already check out my social media as I will be using it to update you all on new blog posts.
