Sleepy – Lush’s Miracle Lotion

It’s the end of the week and I’ve hit a brick wall. I’ve just finished my first week back at university and my god over summer I seem to have forgotten how tiring uni is! I’ve spent most of the week looking forward to the weekend just so I had some time to chill out. Although i’m back at uni now, I do love this time of year because the mornings are crisp and the evenings draw in earlier. Autumn and winter are my favourite times of the year, probably because I love Christmas (too early to mention the c word?) but also because I love dressing for the colder weather. I especially love the autumn winter colours.   Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

There is also something I love about cosy evenings on the sofa watching telly (which is always so much better in the winter!) with the fire on. I have endless amounts of chill out clothes and pyjamas and at the end of a stressful week at uni I definitely reach for them.

I have also been trying to get in some sort of sleep routine since going back to uni instead of just going to bed and getting up at whatever time I fancy, something which I had been doing over summer. I always find though that when you focus too much on going to sleep, you then can’t sleep, in fact you couldn’t be more awake if you tried! So when I heard about Lush’s Sleepy Lotion, something which has been in the media a lot recently, I thought I would give it a try.

I’m not going to lie I was slightly sceptical to start with, after hearing that the sleepy lotion worked miracles helping people to sleep. Nether the less I thought I would give it a try. In lush they had two sizes available, but I thought I would try the smaller pot first incase I didn’t like the product. I bought the 95g pot for £7.95, slightly pricey for a body lotion but I love lush products a lot, so thought it is probably worth the cost.

Instead of relying solely on the body lotion to sleep I decided to have a bath with some scented candles (i’m loving a yankee candle at the moment called autumn night), and a hot chocolate in my favourite purple heart mug, which I actually painted myself. When it then came to using the sleepy lotion I wasn’t actually sure if I was going to like it as I don’t tend to like lavender as a smell. I was however pleasantly surprised, the sleepy lotion smells amazing, it smells very rich and floral but isn’t overpowering at all. It literally smells like ‘that sleepy smell’ in a pot – as cliche as that sounds, I definitely think this has something to do with the lavender in it.

The sleepy lotion did definitely help me sleep, however the one thing I would say about it is that it is very sticky on the skin. I’m not sure if this is because of the consistency of the product or because I put too much on meaning that it didn’t absorb properly – but definitely something to consider if you want to buy this product. This did not put me off the lush sleepy lotion though, because it worked so well. The product is so simple but so good, and the fact it has cocoa butter in it means it makes your skin feel divine, so soft!

Basically what i’m saying is if you have been ‘umming’ and ‘ahhing’ over whether to buy the sleepy lotion, you should definitely go out and buy it. I can definitely see why this product has had such a hype in the media recently because it really does work for all ages. If you have any tips and tricks on how to use the sleepy lotion or any products you would highly recommend, please let me know in the comments. I love lush so much and would love to hear about some of your holy grail products!
