Topshop Makeup

Processed with VSCO with a5 presetToday I had the urge to write a blog post about Topshop. Not Topshop clothes though, but their make up range. You may be thinking that Topshop makeup is like a drug store brand and it isn’t very good etc etc. But that is where you would be wrong, Topshop do some really nice make up and having collected a fair bit I wanted to write a blog post explaining what I like about the brand.

Processed with VSCO with a5 presetTopshop isn’t a brand that immediately springs to mind when you think makeup but they have created some really lovely makeup which I personally think could rival some of the other drug store brands out there. The one thing I will say is that some of the products I think are slightly over priced for the market they are competing in, but I am happy to pay it if I think the product is going to be amazing.

Processed with VSCO with a5 presetI first tried Topshop makeup when I got one of their eyeshadow palettes. It is a simple four shade palette with a dark brown, mid brown, light brown and a light nude shade. All the eyeshadows are slightly shimmery and apply with a very creamy consistency. It is super easy to blend these eyeshadows and they look great on, I always get compliments when wearing this combination! I also love how big the eyeshadows are in this palette, with normal palettes the eyeshadow is always quite small, but in this palette you get four fairly big squares of eyeshadow. You also get an applicator, one of those spongey ones, and although not my favourite it does help apply the eyeshadow smoothly.

This palette has three super shimmery eyeshadows in a smaller round palette. Although I haven’t really tried the black in this palette (i’m a bit of a wimp when using darker colours), the gold/bronze colour looks insane on and the silver is to simply stunning. Even though these eyeshadows are a lot smaller than the other palette, a little bit goes a long way! This palette also has a lovely round mirror in it which makes application look super easy!

Processed with VSCO with a5 presetAs you can tell, I really do like topshop make up so when it came to trying a foundation for the first time (I used to only ever wear powder) I thought I would try the Topshop foundation. I was pleasantly surprised with this foundation, although it is quite watery it applies smoothly on the skin and gives a lovely medium coverage. Not so light that it doesn’t really do anything but not too heavy that it looks cakey! The bottle is a good size meaning it lasts a long time and although I got a slightly darker shade than I needed, once blended in this foundation looks fab! Topshop also do a range of colours to suit different skin tones.

Processed with VSCO with a5 presetOnto lips, some of my favourite make up products, I just love a strong lip! The lip bullets are something that I hadn’t really tried before but I got gifted one for Christmas and I absolutely love it! The colours Topshop do are classic and beautiful. The product applies nicely on the lip with a bold and not at all patchy colour. Although this product doesn’t last all day and you do have to reapply, I think it’s worth it when the colour is so lovely. The only annoying thing about the lip bullet is that if air gets stuck under the plastic cap it can come off easily and leave lipstick everywhere, especially if it comes off in your bag!

Finally I wanted to talk about lip liner, I actually pinched this lip liner off my mum after seeing how pretty it was. I have a pinky colour which I love to wear all over the lip as a stand alone look. The lip liner is easy to apply and easy to sharpen (something which I have learnt is super important with a lip liner!) and just looks great. I love a product that is easy to use but makes your makeup look amazing while standing out.

Processed with VSCO with a5 presetSo as you can tell I love Topshop makeup and am hoping that I can have another mooch around their make up section soon to see what new products they have introduced! I would definitely recommend Topshop makeup to anyone looking for something slightly different to the normal drug store make up brands.
