Today I want to do a slightly different post. I wanted to write a post about Race for Life, something which I know is close to a lot of hearts. Charity work is something that I personally think is really important and the help it provides people can really help on their worse days. I wanted to write this post because everybody knows someone who has been affected by cancer whether that be family or friends.
I’ve completed race for life twice before and this will be my third time. I have done the normal 5k and the pretty muddy run. This year I will be completing the 5k run with four other people. I love doing Race for Life, the atmosphere is absolutely amazing, there are so many supporters cheering you on and just knowing you’re doing it for such a great cause makes it feel so worthwhile!
The thing I love most about Race for Life is that literally anyone can do it! It’s not like a normal race, no one is worried how long it takes you to get around the course, you can walk, jog or run! You can literally choose anyway you wish to get around the course, and will have people cheering you on at every corner! It’s even better that you can complete the race with the people you love either running with you or cheering you on! I also love that there is a massive group warm-up at the beginning with lots of music and fun. It really gets you in the mood to smash the run! The sense of community at these events is just overwhelming.. something which I hope will carry on across all the events throughout the year!
I wanted to write this post to highlight how important it is to support charities, especially ones that support researching cancer. Raising money for Cancer research couldn’t be easier. I have set up a justgiving page to raise money and hopefully will hit my target before I run. Even if I don’t manage to raise any money, I think just running and raising awareness is so important.
Hopefully this blog post has given you an insight into why it’s so special to run Race for Life. I wanted to inspire other girls and women to sign up and run the race, whether you’ve done it before or not. The more we come together, the more awareness we will raise and hopefully find a cure to cancer! I know from personal experience that this is something that I want to see achieved in my lifetime. So many people suffer and it’s just not fair, a cure needs to be found.
Please let me know if you’ve already signed up or if you’re going to I would love to hear your experiences! I will put the link below if you want to sign up now. Race for life runs in lots of different areas, so its available to everyone!
I hope you enjoy reading this and it inspires you to sign up and become one of the pink army! If you haven’t already, check out my social media as I will be using it to update you all on new blog posts! I will let you know I how get on in July!
