It’s Blue Monday so I thought I would write a post to brighten up your day. Hourglass is a brand I could only dream of owning and I have had their products on my wish list for as long as I can remember however I was lucky enough to receive two of the most beautiful palettes for Christmas. The palettes I received are the Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked and the Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 4. I wanted to write a post to share my first experiences with the products and the brand as a whole.
Hourglass are known for being a high-end premium makeup brand and you can see that that is true from the quality of the products and the packaging they come in. Both palettes arrived in beautiful metallic boxes that exactly matched the metallic packaging of the actual palettes.
The palettes inside were equally as gorgeous. I’ll start with the Ambient Lighting 4 palette, which was the first palette I was drawn too having seen beautiful pictures of it on others social media. The packaging is a chic light pink colour and inside are 6 of the most beautiful powders. As the palette is a multi-purpose face palette, it is comprised of two finishing powders, two blushes, one bronzer and one highlighter, four of which being best selling shades and two being exclusive to this palette.
This palette is stunning to look at with three of the powders having the most beautiful marbling within them. All the powders in this palette give quality pay off and are all super pigmented, definitely worth the money this palette costs. Although the palettes are not as big as you may first expect, the powders in the palette are domed meaning you get slightly more product but the powders give such good pay off that you hardly need any product on the brush to start with. Hopefully meaning the palette will last me a while!
Now onto the second palette, the Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked which comes in the most beautiful gold packaging and has six stunning multi-purpose powders within it (which are all new exclusive shades!). Although similar to the other palette, this palette has more gold and bronze tones within it, which are stunning. Again this palette has two finishing powders, two blushers, one bronzer and one highlighter. All of which have a shimmer to them.
The first time I used this palette I was a bit heavy handed and almost ended up looking like an oompa loompa, it was the blending that saved me (luckily these powders blend amazingly well!). So I would definitely say that less is more when it comes to applying these. I also think that these palettes manage to give a flawless look, my skin has never looked so good since using these palettes. I am able to produce a flawless glow even with it being the middle of January, due to the slight shimmer within the powders that are so fine that they scatter on the face as soon as the powder is applied.
I think it’s safe to say that Hourglass is fast becoming one of my favourite makeup brands. These palettes definitely compliment the Hourglass high end brand and I can see why so many people love the products. I can’t say I have ever used powders like these before, where they are creamy and blend seamlessly into the skin. Hourglass is definitely going to be a brand I invest in more as the products are such high quality and will last.
There we have it, my first impressions of Hourglass. I don’t think I could have given a more glowing review, I cannot wait to get my hands on a few different products from Hourglass to experiment with! The eyeshadow pots look amazing!
