I wanted to write a post today as I’ve been feeling a little stressed recently, what with work, planning a wedding and lots of social/family things going on and things have got a little on top of me. It seems I’ve forgotten how to chill out and take time out when things get on top of me so I wanted to write a little check list to remind myself that life’s too short to take things too seriously.
- Laugh at the funny things in life. This may seem a simple one to start with, however when you’re a bit down or in a bit of a mood it’s easy to become that person that sucks the fun out of a room without you even noticing. I always find laughing at the little things no matter how rubbish I’m feeling can help me feel a little bit better. Even if only for a split second! Remember life’s too short to not giggle and have fun!
- Take time for yourself. Again seems simple, but can be difficult to implement. Sometimes if you’re feeling down it’s super easy to keep busy (which is fine). However, it’s important to give yourself some downtime where you just spend time looking after yourself. Whether that be 10 minutes reading, having a bath etc. Just make sure you give yourself a few minutes in your own company.
- Treat yourself. No I don’t mean go out and drop thousands on new bits. I mean treat yourself to some of your favourite things e.g. cook your favourite dinner, have a pamper evening or eat your favourite chocolate in front of the TV. It’s not always about going out, some of the simplest things can make you feel better if you’re feeling stressed.
- Surround yourself with people you can rely on. You may not always want to speak to them if you’re feeling stressed. However having people you can rely on is good for when you do feel up to talking because as they say a problem shared is a problem halved!
I want to finish by saying look after yourself. You only get one life and it’s up to you to live it in the best way possible, enjoying everyday and finding genuine happiness! Remember life’s too short to waste time!
I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post and it’s helped if you’re feeling stressed. Also if you haven’t already, check out my social media as I use it to update you all on new blog posts!
