I know it’s the wrong season but I wanted to write a blog post about sunglasses. I spent a long time wearing cheap sunglasses that would break and fall apart almost imminently after buying them. I would go through pair after pair always trying to find a style that would suit my face.
Then on a shopping trip with my mum, I walked past a sunglasses hut and decided to have a look. It dawned on me that we spend so much money on suncream etc to keep our skin healthy, why would we not do the same for our eyes? I thought it was about time I invested in a good pair of sunglasses, that not only looked good but protected my eyes at the same time. I also wanted a pair that covered the underneath of my eyes as this is an area I tend to burn a lot.
I originally was interested in purchasing a pair of Ray-Bans specifically the round rose gold pair that have been really popular with influencers on Instagram recently. However, I have a very small round face and when I tried on the Ray-Bans they didn’t suit me as much as I had hoped (I was gutted!). I definitely needed to go for sunglasses that have a different shape to my face.
I then saw the Tiffany & Co sunglasses, I didn’t even know Tiffany’s did sunglasses so I was super excited. I decided to try on a pair of what I would describe as ‘cat-eye’ sunglasses and I fell in love. They were the most perfect sunglasses I had ever tried on. They suited my face completely and are classy, elegant and timeless.
The sunglasses have a dark tortoise shell rim on the outside and the inside is the iconic tiffany blue. My favourite part however has to be the beautiful Victoria cluster on each side of the glasses. The gems look so delicate but stand out at the same time. The glasses also have a black/grey lense, that matches the darker rim.
Although these sunglasses where pricey at £297 (however , I didn’t purchase these sunglasses without thinking, I knew I wanted some designer sunglasses). I also knew that if I invested in a decent well made pair of sunglasses that they would last me a long time. I think that’s why I chose a classic style that I knew wouldn’t really go out of fashion. However, i’m not saying cheaper sunglasses are bad, I also have a pair of New Look sunglasses that I love that offer UV protection! I just think if you can afford to, buying higher-end sunglasses are worth the money.
My top tips for purchasing designer sunglasses would be:
- Don’t make a quick decision, spend time trying on different pairs to find out what suits you and what you like
- Make sure the sunglasses suit your face shape
- Make sure you LOVE the sunglasses, you don’t want to be spending lots of money to then fall out of love with them in a couple of months! (This is definitely the most important!)
