I’m the first one to admit that I don’t use lip balm half as much as I should. Unfortunately for me I have really dry lips and if I don’t regularly use lip balm throughout the year then I suffer for it! I do actually like using lip balm, it makes my lips feel moisturised and hydrated as well as making them look nice AKA not dry chapped and flaky (gross I know!).
As you can probably already tell as I have quite dry lips I have tried many many different lip balms and the amount I own is ridiculous, I could open my own shop! So I thought I would do a round up of my best and worst lip balms and the ones you should definitely try.
I want to start with the L’Occitane ultra rich lip balm. I got this lip balm when I was staying in a hotel and I used it for a little while after. This lip balm is okay, it does work and feels moisturising on the lips. However it does just feel like it is sitting on the lips and takes a long time to actually do anything. I feel like I constantly have to reapply this for it to actually make any difference. However, I would still use this product as I feel if you use it enough it will do a good job of keeping your lips moisturised.
Next the Zoella lip balm. I actually really like this lip balm, its light, nourishing and it smells amazing, not to mention the fact it has a very light shimmer. However, I don’t really like a lip balm you have to apply with your finger. I find it messy, difficult and just not very practical if i’m honest. I know everyone has their own opinion but I don’t really reach for this lip balm often just for that reason!
Onto Carmex a household favourite! I used to absolutely love this lip balm and would apply it religiously, I probably used it for a whole year without changing. I stopped using this lip balm and recently purchased a new one and let me tell you, I just wasn’t as impressed as I had been previously. This lip balm makes my lips tingle in a way that makes them feel worse than before and if i’m honest after using this my lips were worse than before and even drier. I persevered and used this lip balm a little longer and it just didn’t get any better. I don’t know if anyone else has had this experience with Carmex or whether the product just doesn’t agree with me?
Benefit Benebalm is just fab. I love this lip balm and although it is a little more high end, it really works. It is nourishing and soft without feeling to heavy and also gives a slightly red/pink tint to the lips which is a lovely touch. It makes you feel like you’re wearing a really nourishing lipstick.
The Epionce lip repair is a lip balm that my mum actually gave me. I used it until it pretty much ran out and I love it. This lip repair applies really lightly but works its magic almost immediately. My lips felt better than ever, nourished, moisturised and ready to take on any type of weather! The applicator for this lip repair is also really easy to use. You just squeeze the tube and apply with the curved end. I would definitely recommend this lip balm.
Finally, onto EOS lip balm, one of my favourite brands. I discovered EOS in America a couple of years ago (where it is way cheaper to buy) and have loved it ever since. I love the quirky shape of this product and because it is domed, this product lasts forever. I used mine daily for about a year before it was anywhere near running out. Although these lip balms are expensive in the UK, I would say they are definitely worth the price as you can get a range of different smells but each one will leave your lips feeling great. Also, these lip balms are completely organic which is just a bonus! I have tried the passion fruit lip balm and have recently bought the pomegranate and raspberry lip balm which is just as nice.
I hope this little lip balm haul has helped at least one person find the perfect product for them, I mean it’s taken me years!
If you know of any other amazing lip balms I would love to know!
