A couple of weeks ago I spent a dreamy weekend relaxing at Rowhill Grange Hotel for my boyfriend and I’s fifth anniversary. I had such a lovely time that I really wanted to share with you the best bits of our trip and how lovely the hotel is!
We decided to stay Sunday to Monday as we thought it might be a slightly quieter time which is something that we tend to prefer. I’d been looking around and had originally wanted to go back to Alexander House Hotel (The sister hotel of Rowhill Grange) where we have visited before, but this time it was just slightly too expensive. Having never visited Rowhill Grange we decided to have a look and they were offering the celebration break for £50 off the normal price making it £379 for the night instead of over £400. This included bed, breakfast and dinner, a 50 minute full body massage each, a luxury king room for the night, a bottle of bubbly with chocolate dipped strawberries and full use of the facilities until 1pm the following day.
We arrived at 3pm (check -in time) and the drive up to the hotel is beautiful through the countryside that situates the hotel. Upon arriving at check-in we were greeted by the most helpful and cheerful people who immediately put us at ease! We had a lovely concierge who showed us around our hotel and then to our hotel, giving us all the details we would possibly need to know!
As we entered our room, we were really pleased. The room was a great size and had a lovely big bed in the middle with two big arm chairs in the corner. Either side of the armchairs were two big full length mirrors, which personally I loved! The bathroom though, was probably my favourite part. As you entered there was a big bath on a step with grey glittery wallpaper behind. I definitely utilised this and even brought a bath bomb from home to use in it! There was also a lovely big shower next to it, which didn’t have a door (quite odd as if you are tall, the water just splashes all over the floor!).
So onto the spa, which was obviously my favourite bit, was based on the Roman Baths. As you entered from the changing room, there was a huge hydrotherapy pool, with lots of jets, lovely warm water and a tiled ledge which was like lying on a warm sun lounger! Next to this, behind two huge pillars was a smaller jacuzzi tucked away in the corner, which was super relaxing! Then as you went up the stairs there was a big swimming pool surrounded by chairs and loungers. I loved this spa as it felt so relaxing, and it felt really rustic with all the Roman art on the walls and the roman touches such as the pillars.
On the Sunday evening we decided to eat dinner in the bar rather than the restaurant as we wanted more of a relaxed vibe. Again the staff were very attentive and on the whole the food was good. However, the main meals weren’t as good as we expected. My boyfriend ordered a steak rare and the steak he was served was more medium-well done and I ordered cod and chips and the batter on the fish was soggy. Although this sounds picky, it didn’t ruin the meal as I had the most delicious home made cheese straws to start and then my personal favourite, chocolate brownie for pudding! They also had an array of drinks on offer and the Mango Bellini was devine!
The food at the breakfast next day was very good. However, we planned 45 minutes for breakfast which we thought was ample time. However, breakfast took a very long time to arrive meaning we had to eat it at the speed of light to make it to our spa treatments on time! Thankfully, the staff at reception agreed to a later checkout free of charge, so we didn’t have to pack all our stuff and vacate the room before our treatments.
The 55 minute body massages we booked were so relaxing. I mean I love a massage and this one did not disappoint. The therapist made me feel really at ease, and I had a lovely massage with a medium pressure and was then given after care tips and a saving voucher for a product from the spa shop! My boyfriend also commented that he really enjoyed his treatment!
So as you can see we had a really lovely time at Rowhill Grange Hotel and would return if given the chance. The only thing for us that slightly let us down was the food, however if we went again we would probably eat in the two rosette restaurant rather than the bar! Overall the spa at Rowhill Grange was fab and we both felt super relaxed when we left! Although I do think I probably prefer Alexander House to Rowhill Grange, it is definitely a lovely alternative.

P.S if you are planning on visiting Rowhill, it’s only 10 minutes away from Bluewater (the biggest shopping centre in Europe!)
