My birthday has arrived again and I am now the ripe old age of 23. The last year has been a complete whirlwind, so I thought I would take some time reflecting on the last year and all the things I have learnt along the way. So here goes My 23rd Birthday: Reflecting on the last year.
A lot has changed over the last year, firstly I am now a fiancée! This is probably the biggest and most exciting change that has happened. It has been one the most amazing times in my life and planning a wedding with my future husband to be has been one of the best experiences. Yes we may bicker over silly little things like flowers, the flavour of the cake or the fact that i’m keeping my dress a surprise. However, I am marrying my best friend and that is what is most important.
Another part of my life that has changed in the last year is my employment status. I am no longer a student but someone with a fully fledged full time job. This has been quite a challenge for me, I’ve gone from having quite a flexible timetable to having a very rigid one. I have found having a full time job to be quite monotonous and to be frank i’m not enjoying it as much as I hoped I would. A lot of my time is now taken up with work and I feel like I live for the weekend a lot. I am trying to get my work life balance under control and I think I need to stop being such a perfectionist in order to get some of my own time back.
However, on to more positive things. I feel like I have learnt a lot about myself in my first year of work and what I can and can’t cope with. I’ve learnt that it is important to take time for yourself, relax and recuperate. My favourite way to take time for myself is to have a bath, a pamper and chill out reading or catching up on some You Tube. One of the main things I’ve learnt this year is that it is okay to take time for yourself. The world won’t stop turning, you can finish that job that needs doing tomorrow.
Over the last year I’ve really realised how important friends and family are. I now make a conscious effort to spend time with both, because let’s be honest it’s going to be your friends and family that miss you most. The job you’re doing will replace you as quick as they hired you. Friends and family are one of the most important part of your life, don’t take that for granted!
I feel I have learnt and grown a lot over the last year, having changed quite a lot as a person. I am looking forward to being 23 and I am so excited for what the future has in store over the next year. Hopefully next years birthday post will be me reflecting on moving into my own home!
I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post and it’s helped you to reflect on your life and the things most important to you. Also if you haven’t already, check out my social media as I use it to update you all on new blog posts!
